Groundwork, a company offsite at Desa Eko in Munduk, North Bali

Most offsites get a breakout room.

This one has a waterfall at the bottom of the garden.

SCROLL

Groundwork

Your last offsite was in a function room with a projector and a coffee urn. It cost more than this one.

Two nights in the village above the clouds, in the hills of Munduk in North Bali, a thousand metres up. You get the opposite of the coast: cold mornings, mist before breakfast, and absolutely no beach‑club energy.

All eight rooms are yours. No other guests stay the night. The forest goes quiet around eight and the cold rolls in by ten, so everyone ends up around the fire whether they meant to or not.

It is a camp out with a chef, a fire, and a waterfall.

No trust falls. No flipcharts.

Eight rooms

The whole property. Yours for two nights.

Shared reflections

“There is a descent to the waterfall from the hotel territory, and this is a huge advantage because if you go there early you will be alone there.”

Eight rooms across the slope, a king bed in each. Sixteen of you two to a room, or more if we put extra beds in. For two nights it is your own bubble of jungle. A rooming plan comes with the proposal, so you are not the one sorting it out in a group chat.

The long table at The Botanist set for a Supper Club dinner

Food = Medicine

Grown here, or Next door

The Botanist has been farm to table since 2017. The menu draws on our own permaculture gardens and coffee plantation. What we do not grow comes from farms in the surrounding villages.

You eat at a long communal table hewn from a single slab of hardwood. It seats about twenty four, so everyone eats together.

“The food here easily earns five stars.”

Two nights

“Reserve it at least 2 nights if you have a chance.”

What is included

  • All eight rooms, exclusively yours
  • Deluxe breakfast buffet, both mornings
  • Every lunch and dinner at The Botanist
  • Coffee, tea and soft drinks throughout
  • The waterfall trail, straight off the property, walk it unguided
  • One 60 minute massage per person
  • The reflection platform by the river

The trail is a steep ten minutes down and a steeper ten back, so bring shoes you can walk in. Not included: flights, and alcohol, which is charged on consumption.

Add ons

  • The permaculture morning
In the gardens with our gardeners, hands in the soil.
  • The guided waterfall walk
Four waterfalls with a guide, entrance passes and a car back. Five and a half kilometres and 534 metres of climbing, so three to four hours. It takes Saturday morning, in place of your session.
  • Extra massages and treatments
Beyond the one that comes with your stay.
  • The Botanist to yourselves
At twenty or more we close the restaurant for the evening and it is your private dining room. Priced per cover on top.
  • Airport transfers
Arranged for you and billed at cost. Roughly three hours each way.

Priced separately. Ask for any of them on the call and they go into the proposal with the price against them.
